Ijebu Ode Grammar School was founded on January 20, 1913, by the Church Missionary Society (CMS) in Ijebu-Ode, Nigeria.
Initially, a co-educational institution, it started in a private building before moving to its current site on Abeokuta road in Ijebu-Ode. The "1938 Block" is the first building in the school, it was built in the year 1938, hence why it is named so. The school is the oldest in Ijebuland and the second oldest in Ogun State.
Founding: The school was established by the CMS with the support of local pastors and is considered a landmark in the history of secondary education in the region.
Founders: It was founded by Reverend S.J. Gansallo and Reverend J.A. Cole, who were both graduates of Durham University.
Early days: The school began with a small number of students in a building donated by Pastor J.B. Sadare, before being relocated to the Ijasi Vicarage and eventually to its present site.
Legacy: The school is known for its distinguished alumni popularly referred to as Ijebu-Ode Grammar School Old Boys' Association (JOGSOBA) and their never-ending support which helps fund projects and enhance infrastructure. JOGSOBA 95-01 VISION SET is a proud and prominent example of the said Old Boys' Association.
